Shanghai has introduced an unexpected new dessert: soy sauce-flavored ice cream. It is part of a special afternoon tea set that also includes soy sauce-flavored milk tea and cookies. The set is being offered at the No. 1 Department Store, where the TV show “Solo Comedy” is currently recording.
The combination of comedy performances and soy sauce-themed desserts has attracted many influencers and shoppers who want to try the unusual flavors. The event creates an interactive experience where audiences can watch unaired episodes while tasting new products.
This collaboration is done with Xianshi Soy Sauce, a century-old brand from Luzhou in Sichuan Province, whose traditional soy sauce brewing technique was listed as a national intangible cultural heritage in 2014. The project aims to blend culture, business, and tourism in a modern, creative way.
