Cristiano Ronaldo has been named Global Ambassador of the Esports World Cup 2025 (EWC), the Esports World Cup Foundation (EWCF) announced. EWCF CEO Ralf Reichert said Ronaldo will help connect traditional sports and esports, inspiring a new generation of athletes. Ronaldo expressed pride in supporting esports athletes through his role.
This isn’t his first involvement with the EWC—he took part in its global launch in 2023 and attended the 2024 closing ceremony. Notably, Ronaldo is also featured as a playable character in FATAL FURY: City of the Wolves, one of the 25 games in this year’s competition.
EWC 2025 will run from July 7 to August 24 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, bringing together 2,000 players and 200 clubs from over 100 countries. They’ll compete in 25 tournaments across 24 games for a record-breaking prize pool of over $70 million.
