Xi Jinping chaired a meeting of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee on Monday to discuss strengthening strict Party self-governance and preparations for the upcoming Party plenum. The meeting announced that the fifth plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee will be held in Beijing from October 26 to 29.
The meeting also agreed to submit a document on strengthening full and rigorous Party self-governance to the plenum for discussion. The document reviews the Party’s achievements and experience in this area, examines current and future challenges, and outlines plans for further improving Party governance. The meeting stressed the need to maintain strong Party leadership, follow strict standards, improve governance systems, and address major issues in Party building. It said these efforts are intended to ensure that the CPC remains a strong governing party and continues to play a central role in leading China’s development.
