At a think tank forum held in Beijing and co-hosted by research institutes linked to China’s Communist Party and Taiwan’s Kuomintang party, participants proposed a series of opinions aimed at promoting cross-Strait exchanges and cooperation. The proposals, covering five key areas, called for the restoration of normal travel between the two sides, including the removal of restrictions on personnel exchanges and the resumption of direct sea and air passenger services. Participants also suggested expanding cooperation in emerging industries, particularly through joint development of artificial intelligence and manufacturing projects, as well as establishing a globally influential AI innovation hub.
The opinions further encouraged collaboration in healthcare, environmental protection, and disaster prevention. Attendees also urged people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait to support the 1992 Consensus, oppose Taiwan independence activities and external interference, and maintain peace and stability in the region. The forum gathered more than 100 participants from both sides, including think tank representatives, industry experts, and professionals from sectors such as tourism, technology, and healthcare.
