Cooperation should be the defining feature of China-EU ties, says Chinese FM

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said cooperation and partnership should define China-EU relations during a phone call with Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen. He highlighted steady growth in China-Finland ties, expanding cooperation in areas such as green development, energy transition, AI and trade, and urged Finland to promote constructive China-EU relations, dialogue, and closer economic alignment. Valtonen reaffirmed Finland’s one-China policy, support for free trade, and interest in deepening cooperation, with both sides agreeing on the importance of maintaining a constructive China-EU partnership.
