Competition schedule confirmed for 2025 Asian Winter Games

The 2025 Asian Winter Games are scheduled to take place in Harbin, the capital of Heilongjiang Province in northeast China, from February 7 to 14. The event will feature six sports, including biathlon, curling, ice hockey, skating, skiing, and ski mountaineering, with a total of 64 events across 11 disciplines. Men’s and women’s ice hockey and curling competitions will commence on February 5, two days before the opening ceremony. Speed skating offers the highest number of gold medals (14), followed by short track speed skating (nine). The ice events will be held in Harbin, utilizing existing venues from the 1996 Asian Winter Games, while the snow events will take place in Yabuli, located 193 km from Harbin.The opening and closing ceremonies will be hosted at the Harbin International Conference, Exhibition, and Sports Center on February 7 and 14, respectively. Harbin was awarded the hosting rights during the Olympic Council of Asia’s 42nd General Assembly in July 2023. The slogan, emblem, and mascots for the Games were officially unveiled on January 11. Preparations for the event are in progress, including venue maintenance and renovation, with the solicitation of official partners, sponsors, and licensed commodity manufacturers to follow at a later stage. This marks the third time the regional winter games will be held in China, with Harbin previously hosting in 1996 and Changchun in 2007.
