Competition heats up as the Paris Olympics close out second day
On the second day of the Paris Olympics, the competition intensified:
- Chinese swimmer Xu Jiayu led the Men’s 100M Backstroke Semifinals with a time of 52.02.
- Tang Qianting topped the Women’s 100M Breaststroke Semifinals with a time of 1:05.83.
- Both Xu and Tang will compete in their respective Finals on Monday, July 29.
Simone Biles made a strong comeback, topping the qualifying rounds in gymnastics after missing the Tokyo 2020 Games due to the “twisties.”
In other events:
- The U.S. Men’s Basketball team defeated Serbia 110-84.
- South Sudan’s Men’s Basketball Team secured their first Olympic victory since their 2011 independence, beating Puerto Rico.
- Japan’s Kano Koki won Gold in Men’s Fencing, defeating France’s Borel Yannick.
