China Media Group (CMG) and the Chinese Book Club of the United Nations hosted the Special Exhibition “Dialogue Among Civilizations” at the UN Headquarters in New York on July 1. Distinguished guests, including UN Under-Secretary-General Xu Haoliang and various diplomats, attended the event. CMG President Shen Haixiong highlighted the significance of the recently established International Day of Dialogue Among Civilizations on June 10, emphasizing CMG’s commitment to promoting global understanding through media.
Fu Cong, China’s Permanent Representative to the UN, underscored the importance of dialogue for peace and development, reflecting on the enthusiastic support for President Xi Jinping’s Global Civilization Initiative. Stephane Dujarric, spokesman for the UN Secretary-General, and other international representatives echoed the critical role of dialogue in addressing global challenges and fostering mutual understanding.
The exhibition featured performances by Wynton Marsalis, a fashion show titled “Harmonic Heritage,” and an art display with works from notable artists, celebrating cultural diversity and encouraging international collaboration. The event reinforced the UN’s resolution promoting cultural dialogue and mutual respect among civilizations.
