Chris Paul, 40, announced he will retire after his 21st NBA season. He is a 12-time All-Star and nine-time All-Defensive guard who will finish as the NBA’s active leader in assists and steals, ranking second all-time in both behind John Stockton. He has averaged 16.9 points and 9.2 assists and is one of only two players with over 20,000 points and 10,000 assists, along with LeBron James.
Paul was drafted 4th in 2005 and played for New Orleans, the Clippers during the “Lob City” era, Houston, OKC, Phoenix, Golden State and San Antonio. He recently became the first player to record 20,000 points, 6,000 rebounds and 12,000 assists. Clippers coach Tyronn Lue and teammate James Harden praised his impact and leadership.
