Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng said the U.S. and China should strengthen cooperation, reduce misunderstandings, and work toward more win-win outcomes in their economic and trade relationship. He made these remarks during recent China-U.S. economic and trade talks held in Stockholm with U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Trade Representative Jamieson Greer.
Both sides had open and constructive discussions on trade, economic relations, and policies. They also reviewed progress from earlier meetings in Geneva and London, and agreed to continue efforts to extend the pause on some tariffs.
Vice Premier He emphasized that cooperation benefits both countries, while conflict harms both. He called for continued dialogue based on the principles of mutual respect and peaceful coexistence, guided by the consensus reached during the June 5 phone call between the two presidents.
The U.S. side agreed that stable China-U.S. trade ties are important not only for both countries but also for global economic stability, and expressed willingness to continue using dialogue to resolve differences.
