Chinese President Xi Jinping, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC), extended Spring Festival greetings to retired military officers at a gala held by the CMC in Beijing on Friday.
During the event, Xi spoke with veterans about their health and living conditions and reflected on the Party, the country, and the military’s achievements over the past year.
The veterans pledged to support the CPC Central Committee under Xi’s leadership, uphold Xi Jinping Thought on Strengthening the Military, and follow the CMC chairman’s ultimate responsibility system. They also committed to contributing to the centenary goals of the People’s Liberation Army by 2027 and advancing the modernization of national defense and armed forces.
