Chinese Premier Li Qiang urged the international community to take constructive steps to support global economic and trade cooperation during his speech at the opening of the 16th Annual Meeting of the New Champions, or Summer Davos, held in Tianjin. He noted that the global trade landscape is shifting, with traditional trade slowing while emerging trade sectors continue to grow. Li also highlighted concerns over declining cross-border investments and increasingly fragmented supply chains.
The forum, held from June 24 to 26 under the theme “Entrepreneurship for a New Era,” brings together over 1,700 leaders from more than 90 countries. Key focus areas include the global economic outlook, China’s role, disrupted industries, sustainable investment, and innovation in energy and materials. World Economic Forum officials emphasized Asia’s critical role in driving global growth, with China contributing significantly to the region’s momentum.
