Chinese Premier Li Qiang met Myanmar President Min Aung Hlaing in Beijing on Tuesday, where both sides pledged to deepen cooperation and strengthen bilateral ties.
Li said China supports Myanmar in pursuing a development path suited to its national conditions and is ready to expand cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative, including in renewable energy, artificial intelligence and the digital economy. He also called for closer cooperation in combating cross-border crimes such as online gambling and telecom fraud.
Min Aung Hlaing reaffirmed Myanmar’s commitment to the one-China principle and thanked China for its continued support. He said Myanmar hopes to deepen cooperation in trade, investment and the Myanmar-China Economic Corridor while working closely with China to promote regional peace and stability.
