Chinese Ministry of Commerce: China-US trade talks yield positive outcomes

Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China said economic and trade consultations between China and the United States have produced positive results following the recent meeting between Xi Jinping and Donald Trump in Beijing.

According to the ministry, both sides reached consensus on several areas, including continued implementation of earlier agreements, tariff arrangements, and the establishment of a trade council and investment council to strengthen economic cooperation.

The two countries also agreed in principle to reduce tariffs on certain products of mutual concern, address some non-tariff barriers and market access issues, and expand two-way trade, particularly in agricultural goods. Progress was also made on aircraft purchases and supply cooperation.

The ministry said the outcomes show that China and the US can manage differences and expand cooperation through dialogue based on mutual respect, equality and mutual benefit, with further follow-up talks still underway.
