A Chinese anti-epidemic medical expert team arrived in Kinshasa on Tuesday to begin a three-month mission supporting the country’s response to its latest Ebola outbreak. The team was welcomed by representatives of the DRC Ministry of Health, who described China’s assistance as timely and valuable support during a major public health challenge. Lu Ming said the experts would immediately begin working with local health authorities and medical institutions, providing assistance in areas such as epidemic assessment, case management, disease prevention and treatment. The five-member team brings extensive experience in epidemic control and aims to help strengthen the DRC’s capacity to combat Ebola while sharing practical response strategies adapted to local conditions. The mission follows the DRC’s confirmation of its 17th Ebola outbreak since 1976 and the subsequent declaration by the World Health Organization that the outbreak constitutes a public health emergency of international concern.
