Chinese mathematicians Deng Yu and Wang Hong have won the Fields Medals at the 2026 International Congress of Mathematicians in Philadelphia, becoming the first Chinese nationals to receive the prestigious awards. Deng was recognized for her work on partial differential equations, while Wang was honored for contributions to harmonic analysis and geometric measure theory.
