Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Singaporean Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan in Beijing, following a productive meeting between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Singapore’s Prime Minister Lawrence Wong. Wang praised Singapore’s continued support for the one-China policy and its clear stance against “Taiwan independence.”
Marking the 35th anniversary of diplomatic ties, China expressed willingness to deepen cooperation with Singapore based on recent agreements between their leaders. Balakrishnan stated that Singapore aims to work with China on advancing emerging technologies and strengthening ties in areas like trade, investment, and regional connectivity. He also emphasized ASEAN and China’s shared commitment to openness and multilateralism.
