Wang Yi, China’s foreign minister, met with Vietnamese Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung in Hanoi on Sunday to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation.
Wang said the two countries will hold the first ministerial meeting of the China–Vietnam “3+3” strategic dialogue on diplomacy, defense and public security, as well as the 17th meeting of the China–Vietnam Steering Committee for Bilateral Cooperation. He added that the mechanisms will help coordinate development and security cooperation and deepen strategic trust between China and Vietnam.
Trung said Vietnam values its close ties with China and will continue to support cooperation, including trade, investment, green development and connectivity. He also reaffirmed Vietnam’s commitment to the one-China policy and expressed support for China’s positions on issues including Xinjiang and Xizang.
