Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with EU diplomatic envoys in Beijing to mark the 50th anniversary of China-EU diplomatic relations. He called for stronger mutual trust and cooperation, aiming to elevate the China-EU Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Wang proposed three key points for future development: mutual respect for each other’s core interests, especially China’s stance on Taiwan; maintaining the positioning of the China-EU relationship as a partnership rather than a rivalry; and a shared commitment to multilateralism, including support for the UN-led international system and peaceful global development. He highlighted China’s global initiatives such as the Belt and Road and the vision of a shared future for humanity. EU representatives acknowledged China’s importance as a partner and expressed their readiness to develop a stable and constructive relationship, jointly address global challenges, and promote peace and multilateral cooperation.
