Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has highlighted the significance of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) as it marks its 25th anniversary, describing it as a platform that has helped reshape contemporary international relations.
Speaking at a reception in Beijing, Wang said SCO members have developed the “Shanghai Spirit,” which emphasizes mutual trust, mutual benefit, equality, consultation, respect for diverse civilizations, and shared development. He said this approach has helped build a new type of international relations.
Wang also stressed China’s willingness to share development opportunities and deepen win-win cooperation within the SCO framework, adding that the organization should play a stronger role in promoting global peace and development.
SCO Secretary-General Nurlan Yermekbayev said the 2025 SCO Summit in Tianjin adopted a development strategy for the next decade, setting a clear direction for future cooperation and regional stability among member states.
