Zhao Leji, chairman of China’s National People’s Congress, met with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese in Beijing on Tuesday to discuss strengthening China-Australia relations. Zhao said recent talks between both nations’ leaders have laid out a new direction for cooperation, and emphasized China’s readiness to deepen trade ties, legislative collaboration, and people-to-people exchanges. He also highlighted the importance of legal support for bilateral efforts. Albanese expressed Australia’s willingness to expand economic cooperation, increase legislative and cultural exchanges, tackle climate change together, and manage differences through dialogue.
