China’s top diplomat stresses keeping partnership at core of ties with Europe

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said China and Europe should continue viewing each other as partners, avoid turning economic and trade issues into political disputes, and work toward a balanced and stable trade relationship. During a meeting with a European Parliament delegation in Beijing, Wang said China and Europe share common interests in areas such as multilateralism, support for the United Nations and free trade. He called for stronger cooperation on global issues, including green development and artificial intelligence. The European side said it opposes “decoupling” from China and expressed willingness to strengthen dialogue and cooperation to promote stable EU-China relations.
