China’s 2025 summer box office has already surpassed 5 billion yuan (about $697 million), including presales, as of Sunday morning, according to the box office tracker Maoyan.
Daily ticket sales have consistently stayed above 100 million yuan for 10 consecutive days. Saturday alone saw a new single-day high for the summer movie season, which runs from June 1 to August 31, with 293 million yuan in ticket sales.
Leading the charge is Universal’s “Jurassic World Rebirth,” which has raked in 541 million yuan. The Chinese comedy “The Lychee Road” is close behind with 468 million yuan.
Other strong performers include the Japanese animated film “Detective Conan: One-eyed Flashback,” Peter Chan’s crime drama “She’s Got No Name,” and the sports film “F1 The Movie,” starring Brad Pitt.
