China’s software industry is projected to exceed 20 trillion yuan (about $2.9 trillion) during the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026–2030), according to a new industry report.
The report from the China Software Industry Association said software revenue reached 2.15 trillion yuan in early 2026, with steady growth in both revenue and profits over recent years.
Officials from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology highlighted that the sector is a major driver of China’s digital and industrial transformation, with widespread adoption of smart factories and industrial internet systems.
China also plans to expand “AI plus software” initiatives to further accelerate intelligent development across the industry.
