China has initiated a trial unilateral visa-free policy for ordinary passport holders from France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, and Malaysia. Running from December 1, 2023, to November 30, 2024, individuals from these countries can enter China without a visa for up to 15 days for purposes such as business, tourism, visiting relatives, and transit. Luigi Gambardella, president of ChinaEU, praised the policy, highlighting its potential to enhance travel, cultural exchanges, and economic ties. He expressed optimism about the expansion of the visa-free program to more Schengen countries, fostering increased Chinese tourism in Europe and boosting bilateral exchanges between the regions. Gambardella also commended China’s progress in facilitating international transactions through platforms like Alipay and WeChat Pay.
