China’s National Health Commission and four other authorities released a document to aggressively promote and regulate artificial intelligence in the country’s extensive health sector. The plan aims by 2027 to create high-quality datasets, infrastructure, and specialized large AI models. By 2030, the goal is to make intelligent diagnosis and treatment assistance universal in all basic-level clinics, while ensuring secondary and higher-level hospitals widely adopt advanced AI technologies, such as intelligent medical imaging and clinical decision-making support. The document also pushes for expanded AI use in patient services—from appointments to follow-up—and calls for upgrading intelligent systems to provide real-time support for infectious disease control.
