The annual Spring Festival TV gala, organized by the China Media Group (CMG), is set to begin on February 9 at 8 p.m. (Beijing Time). The four-and-a-half-hour show, featuring singing, dancing, opera, sketch comedy, martial arts, and acrobatics, extends until the early morning of the New Year. Broadcast on CMG TV, radio channels, and social media, the gala will also be shown on over 1,000 public screens in 100 Chinese cities and more than 3,000 public screens in 70 cities across 34 countries. The event has been a tradition since 1983, integral to Chinese New Year celebrations. Using advanced technologies like extended reality, this year’s gala aims to provide an immersive audiovisual experience. The China Global Television Network will collaborate with over 1,500 media outlets across 200 countries, broadcasting and reporting on the gala in multiple languages. The 2024 Spring Festival, marking the Year of the Loong, will begin on February 10.
