China’s coastal regions brace for Typhoon Wipha

Typhoon Wipha made landfall in Guangdong, South China, prompting high-level emergency responses across coastal regions including Hainan, Guangdong, and Guangxi. With strong winds and heavy rains expected to intensify, authorities have closed major transport routes like the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, suspended schools and businesses, and evacuated over 440,000 people in Guangdong alone. Emergency shelters have opened, and precautionary measures are underway in affected cities such as Zhuhai, Shenzhen, Haikou, and Beihai. The national observatory issued a yellow alert as the region braces for the typhoon’s impact.
