China welcomed a UN General Assembly resolution passed on Thursday demanding an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and urgent humanitarian access. The resolution, adopted by 149 votes in favor, reflects the strong global consensus for ending the violence.
Chinese envoy Fu Cong expressed regret over the U.S. veto of a similar Security Council resolution last week. He called on Israel to halt its military operations, stressing that no justification can legitimize the killing of civilians.
Fu condemned the blockade of humanitarian aid, calling it a violation of international law and a form of forced deprivation. He urged Israel to lift the blockade, restore access for aid, and support relief efforts.
China also criticized the weaponization of humanitarian aid and emphasized that all UN members must uphold international law and implement UN resolutions.
Fu reaffirmed China’s commitment to working with the global community toward a permanent ceasefire, humanitarian relief, and a comprehensive, just, and lasting solution to the Palestinian issue.
