China’s coast guard on Wednesday warned the Philippines to stop what it called provocative actions and smear campaigns near Huangyan Dao. Spokesperson Liu Dejun said the China Coast Guard will continue lawful patrols and enforcement activities in the area to safeguard China’s territorial sovereignty and maritime rights.
According to the statement, the coast guard had conducted routine training in nearby waters after issuing a navigation safety notice in advance. It accused the Philippine side of sending multiple vessels into the area under the pretext of fishing, alleging the move was intended to create tensions and draw international attention.
