China has raised strong objections to a proposed update of the EU Cybersecurity Act, warning that it could politicize trade and unfairly target certain countries and companies.
According to Ministry of Commerce of China, the draft introduces vague “non-technical risks” and could label some nations or suppliers as “high-risk,” potentially excluding them from key EU industries like energy and telecoms.
China argues the proposal may violate World Trade Organization rules and harm global supply chains, as well as China-EU economic relations. It has urged the European Commission to revise or remove the controversial measures.
Beijing also warned it could take countermeasures if the law discriminates against Chinese companies, while saying it remains open to dialogue with the EU.
