China has urged the Netherlands to correct what it called “mistakes” and remove obstacles to the global semiconductor supply chain, criticizing Dutch authorities for taking control of chipmaker Nexperia. A spokesperson for China’s Ministry of Commerce said the Netherlands’ administrative intervention had disrupted the global chip supply chain and that the Dutch side should bear full responsibility.
The ministry accused the Netherlands of acting irresponsibly and refusing to take corrective measures, despite repeated objections from China. In September, the Dutch government took control of Nexperia, a subsidiary of Chinese-owned Wingtech, citing concerns that sensitive technology and production could be transferred to China.
