China’s Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) has launched “ScienceOne,” an advanced AI model designed to revolutionize scientific research. Unveiled at the 2025 World Artificial Intelligence Conference, ScienceOne aims to accelerate discoveries by understanding complex scientific data, extracting knowledge from literature, and orchestrating research tools.
Developed by a collaboration of 12 CAS institutes, ScienceOne performs exceptionally well across various scientific disciplines, including mathematics, physics, and biology. It’s built to overcome limitations of general AI models in scientific contexts.
Two specialized AI agents powered by ScienceOne were also introduced: one that drastically cuts down time for literature reviews (from days to minutes), and another that automates the planning and use of over 300 scientific computing tools. ScienceOne is already being applied in areas like biology, particle simulation, and high-speed rail design, signaling a significant leap in AI-driven scientific innovation.
