China will send a team of medical experts to the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) on Tuesday to help contain the ongoing Ebola outbreak.
The move comes after the World Health Organization declared the outbreak a public health emergency of international concern on May 17.
The experts will work alongside China’s existing medical team in the DRC, support local health authorities, provide training on Ebola prevention and treatment, and help strengthen disease control efforts.
Chinese officials said the mission reflects China’s commitment to international cooperation and aims to improve the DRC’s capacity to prevent, detect and respond to Ebola cases.
