China will focus on nurturing emerging and future industries, according to a government work report and the draft outline of the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-2030). In 2026, the country will develop key sectors such as integrated circuits, aviation and aerospace, biomedicine, and the low-altitude economy, while also promoting future industries including quantum technology, embodied AI, brain-computer interfaces, 6G, and future energy. Over the next five years, China aims to accelerate growth in new-generation IT, new energy, robotics, intelligent vehicles, high-end equipment, and biomanufacturing, while fostering innovation and self-reliance in core technologies. The plan includes decisive breakthroughs in integrated circuits, machine tools, advanced materials, and basic software, as well as the creation of three world-class international centers for scientific and technological innovation.
