Lu Jiayu scored two early headers, giving China a 2-0 halftime lead. In the second half, Wang Aifang scored a free kick, Zheng Lu, Zhang Yiqian (who scored twice), and Xiao Yafei in stoppage time added to the tally.
China’s coach Colin Bell criticized the team’s first-half performance but praised their stronger, energetic play after halftime. In other Group E action, Lebanon beat Syria 2-1. The qualifiers include eight groups, with group winners and the three best runners-up advancing. China’s final group match is against Lebanon on Sunday.
