China plans to attract 190 million inbound tourist visits a year by 2030 under a new five-year tourism development plan. The government aims to increase annual tourism spending by overseas visitors to more than 150 billion US dollars while improving the quality of tourism services.
To attract more international travelers, China will expand its visa-free entry program, add more international air and rail routes, and make travel easier through better payment systems, transportation, tax refunds and multilingual services, including AI-powered translation tools. It also plans to develop more shopping and tourism hubs in major gateway cities.
