China launched a new remote-sensing satellite, Yaogan-50 02, from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center in Shanxi Province on Sunday evening.
The satellite was carried by a Long March-6A rocket, which lifted off at 9:22 p.m. and successfully placed the satellite into its planned orbit.
Yaogan-50 02 will be used for land surveys, crop yield estimation, and disaster prevention and mitigation. The launch marks the 633rd mission of the Long March rocket series.
