Chinese Premier Li Qiang met with Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong in Beijing on Monday, during Wong’s official visit to China. Both sides agreed to strengthen high-level exchanges and deepen cooperation across various sectors.
Li emphasized the strong, 35-year-long partnership between China and Singapore and expressed China’s readiness to expand joint efforts in trade, investment, and flagship projects under the Belt and Road Initiative. He also highlighted emerging areas for collaboration, including the digital and green economies, artificial intelligence, smart cities, and ocean energy.
Li called for greater people-to-people exchange in education, culture, tourism, and media, and reaffirmed China’s commitment to open regionalism, multilateralism, and global supply chain stability. He also stressed advancing regional economic integration through upgraded China-ASEAN trade agreements.
Wong expressed confidence in China’s economy and reaffirmed Singapore’s commitment to enhancing cooperation in both traditional and emerging sectors. He supported deepening bilateral and multilateral collaboration to promote free trade and regional stability.
