At the 2025 Chengdu World Games, the Chinese women’s finswimming team won gold in the surface relay 4x50m, breaking their own world record with a time of 1:07.99. This victory came after their win in the 4x100m relay the day before. The team, competing together for the first time, credited intense practice on baton exchanges and strong support from the home crowd for their success.
In other events, Germany secured gold in the men’s surface relay 4x100m, with Ukraine and South Korea taking silver and bronze. Hungary’s Nandor Kiss and Szebasztian Szabo Gyoergyei set new world records in individual events, while Ukraine’s Sofiia Hrechko also broke a world record in the women’s surface 400m.
Over two days, finswimming saw seven world records and nine World Games records broken. Hungary led the medal table with five golds, followed by Germany and Ukraine, while China earned two golds, one silver, and one bronze.
