China’s third medical expert team for Ebola response arrived in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), on Saturday to support efforts against the country’s largest recorded Ebola outbreak.
DRC health officials said the situation remains serious, with continued pressure on epidemic response efforts. The Chinese experts will assist with disease monitoring, patient treatment, laboratory testing, and technical support.
Team leader Yang Xiaochen said the group would build on the work of previous teams by providing medical guidance, strengthening cooperation with local health authorities, and contributing Chinese expertise to help control the outbreak. The World Health Organization said the current Ebola outbreak has surpassed the 2018-2020 epidemic as the largest ever recorded in the DRC.
