A U.S.-drafted UN Security Council resolution on Gaza, endorsing President Donald Trump’s 20-point Comprehensive Plan and calling for an international stabilization force, passed with 13 votes but was rejected by Hamas and criticized by China and Russia. Hamas said the measure ignores Palestinian rights and effectively imposes international control over Gaza, including disarmament of Palestinian groups. China abstained, calling the resolution vague and lacking key details about the proposed Board of Peace and the international force’s mandate. The resolution creates a temporary administration to oversee Gaza’s redevelopment and authorizes a stabilization force to secure borders, support demilitarization, and facilitate humanitarian access until at least 2027. Russia, which also abstained, circulated a rival draft pushing for clearer support of a two-state solution and argued that the U.S. pushed the vote without allowing proper negotiations.
