Li Qiang has called for reforms to optimize China’s energy structure and strengthen energy security while advancing its green transition.
Speaking at a State Council study session, Li emphasized the need to enhance system resilience amid rising energy demand and global uncertainties. He urged greater investment in technological innovation, expansion of renewable energy, and more efficient use of fossil fuels.
Li also highlighted the importance of building a modern power grid and deepening market reforms, including the development of a unified national electricity market, to support a low-carbon and sustainable energy system.
