Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said refraining from the use or threat of force serves the fundamental interests of all parties, including Israel, during a phone call on Tuesday with Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar.
Wang said China consistently advocates resolving regional disputes through dialogue and consultation in line with the UN Charter, and noted that recent progress in Iran-U.S. nuclear talks had addressed Israel’s security concerns before being disrupted by military strikes. He reiterated China’s opposition to Israeli and U.S. strikes on Iran, warning that the use of force would exacerbate tensions rather than resolve underlying issues, and called for an immediate halt to military operations to prevent further escalation.
Wang also urged Israel to ensure the safety of Chinese personnel and institutions, with Sa’ar saying Israel attaches importance to their protection.
