On Wednesday, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi reiterated China’s opposition to external interference in Myanmar and affirmed support for Myanmar’s domestic political reconciliation and democratic transition. Meeting with former Myanmar leader Than Shwe in Nay Pyi Taw, Wang emphasized China’s commitment to Myanmar’s sovereignty and stability. Than Shwe thanked China for its longstanding support and hoped for continued assistance in countering external interference.
Wang also highlighted the enduring strength of the China-Myanmar friendship and expressed China’s readiness to further cooperate with Myanmar for mutual benefits. Following this, Wang met with Myanmar’s current leadership, including Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and Deputy Prime Minister U Than Swe.
