The China-Myanmar Cultural Exchange Conference was held at the University of Yangon under the theme of “Mutual Learning, Peace, and Development.” The event was jointly organized by the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar, the University of Yangon, and China Media Group, with support from the Anhui Chamber of Commerce in Myanmar and the Myanmar-China Economic Cooperation and Development Promotion Association.
Approximately 400 representatives from various sectors attended the event. The list of attendees included Mr. Li Qianguo, Minister Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar; Dr. Tin Maung Tun, Rector of the University of Yangon; Mr. Chen Tao, General Manager of Bank of China (Hong Kong) Yangon Branch; Mr. Hou Kenian, President of the Anhui Chamber of Commerce in Myanmar; Mr. Li Fuquan, President of the Myanmar-China Economic Cooperation and Development Promotion Association; U Ohn Maung, Chairman of the Myanmar Writers’ Association; Daw Nan Laung Ngin, Director of the National Museum of Myanmar (Yangon); U Ye Naing Soe, Editor-in-Chief of the Paoh-Phaw Monthly magazine; and U Win Tin, Editor-in-Chief of The Northern Light Media.
Guest speakers from Bo Wen School, Eastern Language & Business Centre, Fuxing Confucius Classroom, Lehua International Education, and Bank of China (Hong Kong) Yangon Branch exchanged views on the challenges, difficulties, and opportunities currently facing Chinese language education in Myanmar. They also discussed ways to improve the services of the Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi (HSK) test. It was expressed that Chinese language education is expected to make a greater contribution to Myanmar’s economic and social development, as well as to diverse exchanges and cooperation between China and Myanmar.
This year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Myanmar, and also the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. Guests from the University of Yangon, the National Museum of Myanmar, the Myanmar Writers’ Association, the Myanmar-China Friendship Association, the Myanmar-China Exchange and Cooperation Association, and the Myanmar-China Economic Cooperation and Development Promotion Association held in-depth discussions on the concepts of peace and development embedded in the traditional cultures of both nations. They emphasized that peace is a timeless topic for humanity and the millennial code of the “Paukphaw” friendship between China and Myanmar. The “Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence,” jointly proposed by both countries, deeply reflect the peaceful foundations of their traditional cultures and have now been widely accepted by countries worldwide, becoming a model for international relations and a basic principle of international law.
Experts from HUAWEI Group, Hikvision, and the Anhui Chamber of Commerce in Myanmar also delivered special reports on topics such as smart education, AIoT (Artificial Intelligence of Things), and the application of modern science and technology in the preservation of traditional architecture. The audience showed great interest in the marvels of technology presented.
During the conference, a knowledge quiz for students was held. Students from the University of Yangon, Myanmar International Education Center, and CGCIS also performed a series of wonderful cultural and artistic programs.
