China has launched its first “carbon-efficiency leaders” program for key industries to encourage energy savings and reduce carbon emissions. The first five sectors included are electrolytic aluminum, cement, synthetic ammonia, ethylene, and methanol. The initiative builds on China’s existing “energy-efficiency leaders” program and aims to accelerate the country’s green and low-carbon industrial transformation.
