The China-Laos Railway saw strong growth in cross-border trade, with cargo value rising 62.7% year on year to 6.81 billion yuan in the first quarter, a record for the period.
Exports of photovoltaic products surged sharply, while imports of fruits doubled, highlighting the railway’s role as a key two-way trade corridor between China and Southeast Asia.
Since launching in 2021, total trade via the railway has exceeded 80 billion yuan, serving over 6,000 companies and reaching 19 countries. The range of goods transported has also expanded significantly, reinforcing its importance in regional connectivity and Belt and Road cooperation.
