Chinese President Xi Jinping emphasized the longstanding partnership and mutual support between China and Kazakhstan in a signed article for Kazakhstanskaya Pravda and Kazinform International News Agency. During his fifth visit to Kazakhstan, Xi highlighted the deep-rooted friendship symbolized by the Kazakh national flag’s blue color and cultural exchanges, including Kazakh students singing a Chinese song. The bilateral relationship, evolving from strategic partnership to a permanent comprehensive strategic partnership, has seen significant economic growth, with China becoming Kazakhstan’s largest trading partner in 2023, reaching $41 billion in bilateral trade. Xi and Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev discussed plans to double trade, expand cooperation in critical minerals, technology, aerospace, and renewable energy, and enhance cultural exchanges. Xi also expressed China’s support for Kazakhstan’s role in global governance and international cooperation through mechanisms like BRICS and the SCO.
