China has introduced visa-free entry and mutual visa exemption agreements with 75 countries to make travel easier and boost international exchange, according to the National Immigration Administration.
Wang Zhizhong, head of the NIA, said that during the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021–2025), visa-free transit policies have expanded. Now, 55 countries qualify for visa-free transit, and travelers can enter China through 60 ports across 24 regions. The allowed visa-free stay for transit has also been extended to 240 hours.
These changes aim to support tourism, business, and cultural exchange, helping more foreigners experience China directly and build better international friendships.
Since 2021, China has recorded over 1.5 billion entries and exits, and handled over 98 million cross-border transport vehicles, making its border clearance system one of the most efficient globally.
Wang also noted that China is improving services to attract global talent, offering better visa and residence policies to support professionals working in important sectors for China’s development.
